Unit of Real Estate Studies
The Unit of Real Estate Studies at RPTU specializes in real estate and facility management, in particular the digital transformation of business models, processes and business intelligence. The Team led by Prof. Dr. Björn-Martin Kurzrock develops solutions for the development and operation of sustainable districts, buildings and components, both individually and with interdisciplinary research and practice partners. The requirements of existing building owners and corporates for the operation of buildings are given special consideration.
We see building documentation and the digital processing of documents with integration into business intelligence systems as the key to digitized processes in real estate and facility management. To this end, we work with partners from the IT sector to develop algorithms based on machine learning to classify documents and extract relevant information for specific use cases. Our expertise lies specifically in the selection, classification and prioritization of documents and data as well as their linking and processing for specific use cases (e.g. life cycle costing/LCC, life cycle assessment, benchmarking, reporting, due diligence, sustainable project and portfolio development) in digital real estate and facility management.
We want to help exploit the opportunities presented by digitalization in the construction and real estate industry for the benefit of all those involved. Knowledge transfer, incentive systems and governance are special concerns in research and teaching.
We are member of Potenzialbereich “Transformation und Digitalisierung von Region und Stadt” as part of the research initiative of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate at RPTU.
